Third Gorillaz Album [23 Sep 2008|02:28pm] reynardin [ mood | yay ] Although Damon Albarn famously declared there would be no more new music in the future from everyone’s favourite animated band the Gorillaz, it turns out he’s changed his tune (much to our delight!), with plans made public that he’s working on a new album with animator Jamie Hewlett. “We’re doing another Gorillaz record. We came back from summer holidays and realised we could do exactly what we wanted to do with Gorillaz,” Albarn told Canada’s CBC. “Essentially, Jamie just had to agree to draw the characters again.” It’s likely the band’s four characters will get a makeover in line with the new Gorillaz music. “I’m so fucking bored of drawing those characters,” Hewlett remarked. “But then we had a moment where we had a new angle on it.” To date the Gorillaz have released two albums, their self-titled debut in 2001 and Demon Days in 2005. On paper, neither album should have been a commercial success, but they spawned a seminal tracks and went on to become bona fide smash hits. “I dunno. We are obtuse and quite abstract, really,” Albarn added with confidence. “We play a game but it’s not strictly the game. "The launch event of the first Manchester International Festival is a circus opera for the 21st century, based on an ancient Chinese legend but reworked as a dazzling spectacle involving more than 40 Chinese circus acrobats, vocalists and performing martial artists." I'm a bit weary about seeing a 'circus opera'. I also heard somewhere it was in Cantonese or something with english subtitles.. so ebay.. [02 May 2006|10:16pm] acid_stains [ mood | tired ] Me and Sam got our Gorillaz posters yesterday and as soon as we got into my dorm, we sticked both of em on the wall. The look so fucking amazing!! This one and this one Plus we just ordered our Tank Girl and Gorillaz Cigarrete Credid card lighter Case. I was actually going to buy em both three days ago but I had to wait, since one of them was in auction (in wich was mine, the Tanky one). But I won it so yeah I got it heheh. Here's mine and here's Samael's We're Jamie Hewllett junkies.......I didn't know the intensity till now...sheesh! What the fuck do you expect!? the guy is godamned genius! and a great artist.
